Breathless

I was walking from the train station trying to figure out the words/the imagery to describe that feeling you get immediately following a big gust of wind…

It’s that same feeling of  swimming underwater trying to hold your breath, And every time you’re underwater you get slightly panicked looking up at the surface of the water realizing you’re running out of breath and thinking you won’t quite make it. And your heart starts to beat a little faster and it feels like there’s a heavy knot in your chest.

Or even when you’re swimming laps (and not a pro-swimmer). Even though you get some air, it seems like you can never quite catch your breath.

That’s what the winter wind feels like to me, like I can never quite catch my breath, and if I don’t move towards the sunlight at the surface more quickly, I might choke.
